Bay Waveland Area Habitat for Humanity
builds 10 homes during the
Carter Work Project, May 11-16, 2008

Every year, former president Jimmy Carter and former first lady Rosalynn Carter dedicate a week of their time to build homes with Habitat volunteers and partner families.  This year, the Carters will join thousands of participants throughout the Gulf Coast as they build homes in hurricane ravaged communities.  Bay-Waveland Area Habitat for Humanity will host approximately 300 volunteers to build ten homes in the Diamondhead community.  The Carters will visit Diamondhead on Thursday morning, May 15th, to help dedicate the homes.

Bay-Waveland Area Habitat for Humanity
After operating for nearly two years as a satellite office for the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Jackson, our Habitat Bay-Waveland Area office now stands on its own.  With 14 full-time employees and four long-term AmeriCorps volunteers, our affiliate serves the communities of Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Kiln, and Diamondhead.  After completing nearly 50 homes in 2006 and 2007, we plan to build 40 homes in 2008.
